FALL 2019 Freshmen: Applications for Fall 2019 freshmen ARE CLOSED. However, the opportunity to be part of the Honors Program is not lost. You are encouraged you to enroll at The Citadel as a freshman and excel. Then, make an appointment to see the director at midterms with A's and we will discuss the possibility of your joining the Honors Program starting in the second semester.
FALL 2020 Freshmen: Applications for Fall 2020 freshmen will open on 12 August, 2019. We encourage you to apply via the Honors Program Online Application. If you prefer, you may print the application and mail it to the Honors Program office. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible so that you may be identified for various scholarship opportunities. Although applicants are encouraged to submit applications by Feb. 1, applications will be accepted after that date for remaining Honors Program placements.
After we have received your information, we will review your application and contact you for an interview if deemed appropriate.
All applicants to The Citadel Honors Program are encouraged to schedule an overnight visit through The Citadel Office of Admisions.
Applicants will be notified by late April if they have been accepted into the program.
Current Citadel cadets may also apply to join the Honors Program based on their academic performance at The Citadel. Interested cadets should contact Dr. Ragan, providing a statement of interest.
General Admission Guidelines
While we believe in a holistic approach to admissions and do not have hard and fast standards for admissions, we understand that many prospective students are interested in our "admissions criteria" to determine if The Citadel Honors Program would be a feasible avenue.
Our previously-accepted applicants, on average, rank in the top 10% of their high school class and scored >1390 on the SAT or > 30 on the ACT.
The Citadel Honors Program curriculum is designed to provide an exceptionally broad background of cultural knowledge and learning skills which students can then apply to their chosen areas of academic specialization.
